Robbie Schlosser in San JoseNon profit donations occupy a significant part of the Magnolia Jazz Band‘s attention, as it seems with many of my colleagues in the wedding and special events biz.  Perhaps because this attitude reflects our habitual frame of mind:  We all do our best to serve our clients, with our main professional focus on “serving”.

After a few years, “serving” becomes our perspective on how we view our world and our mission in it.  Let me tell you about a recent example.

Robbie Schlosser in San JoseHere I am (the good-looking guy near the front) last November, with some of my favorite colleagues, giving an evening to help sort and package donated food at the Second Harvest Food Bank, in San Jose.  My friend Rich Amooi organized the evening, something he does regularly, in addition to his work as a radio personality and professional wedding DJ.  His next session is Wednesday, September 15.  Thank you to Amy Frugoli for taking these wonderful photos.

In these pictures, my colleagues include Rich Amooi, Amy Frugoli, Stacie Tamaki, LT Beaton, Claudia Akers, Lucy Kubinova Silveira, Kaycee McKenzie, Kathleen Kirkpatrick, Cara Laine, Elley Ho, Amy Tam, Eileen Chiu, and others (sorry for not naming everyone).  All of us in the pictures give generously throughout the year — sometimes our time, sometimes our services, sometimes both.

All together, I’m sure my colleagues support easily dozens of worthwhile organizations helping people fallen on hard times to get back on their feet.  Giving this way is something our professional success enables us to do, and as I’ve blogged recently, I’m proud to be part of these nonprofit donations.

Between these non profit donations, all of us take care of business.  For me, every day I talk with people planning music for ALL kinds of celebrations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.  If we can ever help you, please call us at 408-245-9120.

Please visit MagnoliaJazz.com for testimonials, music samples, videos, photos, and our public schedule, and catch us at an event soon.  Our next PUBLIC appearances are on Saturday & Sunday, September 11 & 12, in the “2010 Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival”, in San Francisco.   The following two weeks, we’ll be entertaining on Saturday, September 18, at the “Four Pillars Gala”, and Thursday, September 23, at the “Corporate Party Planners’ Party”.  See details for these events on our website.

In the meantime, please join our Facebook “fans”, and you’ll get a reminder for each of our public events.  Thanks for reading my blog.  Please take a moment to SHARE this post, SUBSCRIBE, and send me a COMMENT.
