How are our Blog and Social Media related to how we Manage Life?

If you’re like me, you’re living and working online more and more these days.  Well, managing business online is one thing, but are you finding “the big picture” for managing your life?

I’m just a musician, and what do I know about this?  Here’s one broad perspective you might like.

I recently wrote about how we benefit from giving and receiving blog comments.  This article is more about managing life and our social relationships than about blogging and social media.

The Magnolia Jazz Band helps people enjoy landmark celebrations, and these days we’re receiving many requests online.  People contact me through our website and our blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube and all the rest.

I try to capitalize on this trend and make it work even better, so I’ve been studying how to use social media.

There’s a lot to learn, of course.  But guess what?  It all seems to boil down to a few straightforward ideas that apply to nearly everything we ever do, online and off.

What fundamental ideas apply to all these social media channels?

First of all, our website and blog (these are the same thing for many of us these days) present to the world who we are, what we do, and what we think about.  Whether or not we’re in business, for ourselves or for someone else.

Most experts in the field seem to agree that our blog is the hub into which Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, and the rest all feed.

In other words, we can use these social media channels to maintain good relationships with people.  They carry messages that draw people to visit our blog and website.

Here’s my point: To receive visitors online, we need to be accessible, inviting, reliable, and persistent, and regularly send effective messages that attract.

So, too, with life.  Ever notice that every major religion seems to have its own version of the same “Golden Rule”?  It seems people have always understood that to live well we need to create and maintain good social relationships regularly.

Learning how to use social media reminds us that in life we need to be helpful, reach out frequently, be reachable, and engage with the people who contact us.  Comment, reply to comments, and be face-to-face often.

So here’s a tip for managing your life:  Think beyond today and its challenges.  Compared with the value of friendships, your day-to-day concerns are just details.

I am doing social networking everyday for my clients that’s why sometimes I face many problems. I think using social networking on line and off line have different aspects to understand. Subscribing and sharing are the easiest way to convey your thought among the people in my opinion. Thanks for sharing….
