Magnolia Jazz Band in Silicon Valley business mixer, 2012San Francisco party music pleases people.

That’s it!  Musically, that includes everything!

And anything.  Anything that keeps people in the right mood.

Here we’re are, setting the perfect mood at a business networking meeting last summer.

Are you planing a party? Whatever the purpose of your party, it’ll be successful if the atmosphere makes your guests glad to be there.

Keep the music familiar.  Your guests will be happy to celebrate a festive event, somber to join friends at a quiet gathering, and everything in between.

Your party music isn’t the only key to success, of course. There’s food, decor, and location, to name a few. But in my experience with San Francisco party music, the right music is essential.

What makes the music right? I’ve found two things:  The music needs to be appropriate to the occasion and recognizable to at least most people there.

San Francisco party music needs to please people from an enormous range of backgrounds and preferences. I’ve never heard one band that can play everything, but most bands can address at least several of these tastes.

All bands need to be flexible, and we often collaborate with other musicians. For example, following a classical string quartet at a wedding ceremony, we’ll entertain during cocktails and dinner, and we’ll be followed by a DJ playing the latest pop music for dancing afterwards.

In the past year, we’ve entertained at

    • Elegant Wedding Ceremonies,
    • Intimate Wedding Receptions,
    • Birthday and Anniversary parties
    • Neighborhood Dinner Parties,
    • Business Open Houses,
    • Casual Garden Parties,
    • Lively Family Picnics,
    • Somber Memorial Services,
    • Informal Cocktail Parties,
    • Formal Company Banquets,
    • and Festive Holiday Parties.

Your next event can be months in the planning or organized at the last minute. We can discuss musical details with you well in advance, or we’ll create the mood as we go, according to what your guests are enjoying.

Each time, we suit the music to the occasion.

When we plan, we’ll ask who will attend.  Your guests will feel comfortable with familiar music.  And we’ll ask what will your guests enjoy hearing? What music will set the perfect mood?

Here’s a tip for planning your music.  Keep it familiar.
