Customer Video Testimonials are coming to our website soon.  I plan to make them myself, though MANY video companies can make them for me.  Everyone knows that online video has become hugely popular in recent years.  Now customer video testimonials are growing quickly, and we’re getting involved.

I’m sure you know that customer testimonials are traditionally a great asset in any marketing campaign.  These endorsements certainly help us, boosting our credibility, enhancing our image, and illustrating how people use our talents.

I’m always on the lookout for any good customer testimonial and include it in our brochure, website, newsletters, press releases, and other promotional items.  Photos of us in action are useful, too, in the same way, and my marketing aims to assure that you easily find both words and photos wherever you look.  And now, videos.

Albert Einstein and Magnolia Jazz BandHere are three of my thoughts about customer video testimonials.  First, this photo may be eye-catching, but Albert never had an opportunity to enjoy the elegant mood we’d create at one of his parties.  (Sniff.)  Same with Mel Gibson, Barbra Streisand, Tiger Woods, Paris Hilton, and Paul McCartney, although their faces would certainly catch your attention.  But who wouldn’t see through their endorsements?  Words are cheap, and effective customer video testimonials needs to be true, believable, and from actual clients.  Really.

Another thought:  Experts suggest that if I praise myself, you may be skeptical, but if someone you know praises me, you’re more inclined to believe it.  Especially if you trust them.  This is why, when I mingle at a networking mixer, I frequently join groups of colleagues, rather than chat with people only one-on-one.  In a group, we can endorse one another, especially to people we’re meeting for the first time.

Finally, it may seem obvious to you, but customer video testimonials ought to appeal to the people you aim them at.  Who’s your target?  For example, a bride-to-be visiting our website can read endorsements from other brides, and on our blog she’ll see photos of us entertaining at weddings and ceremonies.  She’s less likely to be interested in customer video testimonials from businesses which had us entertain at their grand opening celebrations.  But you never know — this bride may also be planning the grand opening for her company.
.

Bottom line:  Customer Video Testimonials are becoming a valuable marketing tool.  How can YOU use Customer Video Testimonials?
