=========================================================

Are you using today’s newest technology?

I recently heard that about 80% of the world’s population will soon have one of the day’s best smart phones in their pocket.  So if you want to contact anybody or have anybody contact you, you’ll want to be reachable by one of these smart phones.

Robbie Schlosser is reading "The Mobile Wave"I’m not ALWAYS thinking about wedding music and party music.  For example, today I’m reading a fascinating book, The Mobile Wave, and I recommend you read it, or at least read about it.

The author, Michael Saylor, is an authority in Information Technology.  He predicts that advances in mobile communication are sweeping over the world like a wave, transforming our world in many significant ways.

Interesting.  Rather than write about the latest technical advances for other cutting-edge experts, Saylor aims at folks like us. That is, we’re far from IT experts, but we use some of the best smart phones and we use social media to engage with friends, colleagues, and people you want to meet.

In his book, Saylor surveys the historical view of technical innovation.  He gathers an enormous amount of current everyday details — we already know a little about many of them — and sets them in historical context.  He lets us glimpse the “big picture” and appreciate what is developing all around us.

This is 2012, and things are changing really fast these days.  Back in what we call The Middle Ages, only about 20 generations ago, very little changed from year to year.

In contrast, I just learned that the technology in the average smart phone today is far more powerful than the technology that took the Apollo mission to the moon back in 1969.

And people are predicting that in the next few years, our best smart phones will become many, many, many times more powerful than they are today.

So what are we doing to take advantage of all this? Is it important that people contact you? Is it important that you be able to contact other people?  What are you doing to make yourself more reachable?

What are you doing to prepare for so many people having the best smart phones?

Personally, I make a living helping people with their wedding music and party music.  I want everyone to be able to contact me whenever they want.  The more ways I can create, and the easier I can make it, the better.  Here’s what I’m doing so far.

As a start, I’m making sure that my website and all my other social media pages are accessible on the various smart phones.

In addition, I plan to create a special small app for my Facebook Page, that will provide a shortcut for people using a their best smart phones to contact me on Facebook.  I’ll blog again when this is done, and I’ll announce my next move.

In the meantime, Saylor is predicting that the mobile wave will transform how we live, learn, communicate, do business, and more.  Are you taking steps to prepare?

YOUR TURN.   How do you prepare for the future’s best smart phones?
