One recent afternoon found us entertaining at a real estate open house in Atherton, California, one of America’s wealthiest communities.

Our open house music created a wonderful upscale affair.  While dozens of guests toured the house, they enjoyed our elegant music, delicious appetizers, and lattes & soft drinks.

At this open house, our boss was Ken Deleon, who was voted America’s #1 real estate agent for 2011 by the Wall Street Journal.  Here’s a photo of us with Ken, on my right, and Ken’s assistant, Tessa, on my left.

I’m afraid the beautiful foyer was a little too bright and sunny for my poor iPhone camera.

But, what a treat!  All afternoon we played the popular standards — from movie and show tunes, the big band era, early rock and roll, and tangos & bossa novas.  Our plan:  Play everything the guests would enjoy.

This amazing open house is another outstanding landmark in a busy weekend for us.  Most often we’re entertaining guests celebrating a wedding, a company banquet, or an anniversary or birthday party.

Mixing it up keeps life interesting, and we’re always ready to entertain at every special celebration that comes along.  Occasionally we jazz up an event like today’s open house, and I hope to see more as the local real estate market comes to life.

By the way, are you looking to buy a house?  This gorgeous home boasts 7 bedrooms; 9 baths; dining, living, media and game rooms; over 11,000 sq ft on 3 stories; and a lot over 42,000 sq ft., landscaped with a magnificent pool, spa, and lawn.  It lists for $9,998,000.

One look, and my wife said, “Get out the checkbook.”  Huh?

YOUR turn.  Ever hear a band at a real estate open house?  Tell me about it.

Music is music it can enjoy anytime anywhere. I think music is the only thing which can understand by heart whether you know the language or not. But I like the concept of open house music, I think its a wonderful idea for music lovers.
