This has been a REAL busy week of holiday parties, so please pardon me while I relax for a few moments and daydream about the future.  Surely, no harm in this…

These days, when so much of our fate rests in our own hands, isn’t it smart to daydream about our long-term plans, as well as our day-to-day activities?  I’m just wondering here.  Don’t we all?

For as long as I can remember, the main thing on my mind has been my work.  Most of the time, all I ever write or daydream about are all the tasks that need to be done and all the projects that I can tackle right away.

I’ve always given myself an endless list of to do’s.  Since 1975 they’ve been mainly about a wedding or a party, and living my life.  An endless list — no wonder I’m never done.  I’m busy doing my very best and always accomplishing something.  I feel satisfied whenever I complete any project, although I know I’ll have dozens of jobs left to do.

This long-standing habit is a constant hunger that’s never satisfied, but always feeds me. Who could have predicted 36 years ago that my all-consuming academic interest would so easily transform into my all-consuming passion for entertaining and managing my band?

Looking back, my most enduring personality trait always seems to be an enormous enthusiasm for whatever I’m engaged in.  I constantly search for better ways to handle this or that routine.  I always seek inspiration from others and create new habits and projects.

Well, let’s hold that thought.  There’s more on my mind, and that’ll be the subject of my next post about daydreaming.

Until then, do YOU ever pause to consider where your busy life is right now, and daydream where it’s heading?
